The Hague – The cultural and artistic event “From Damascus to The Hague” will launch on March 6, organized by Sela Foundation in cooperation with several Dutch and Arab civil society organizations, including Arab Film Festival Rotterdam the Syrian community in the Netherlands, and Arab Institute for Democracy.
The initiative aims to present a contemporary cultural image of the “New Syria” to Dutch audiences, including members of the Syrian and Arab communities residing in the country. The program brings together visual arts, cinema, music, and intellectual discussion.
The first part of the event, taking place from March 6 to 8, includes a visual arts workshop featuring Syrian artists from diverse backgrounds, as well as the screening of five short films by emerging Syrian filmmakers based in the Netherlands and Belgium. The films explore themes rooted in Syrian realities and experiences of exile. A poetry evening by Syrian poet and artist لقمان ديركي is also scheduled.
The second part will feature a concert by Syrian musician إبراهيم كيفو, presenting traditional Syrian musical styles from various regions. The event will conclude with a panel discussion on transitional justice in the “New Syria,” bringing together Syrian human rights activists and experts in an open dialogue with the audience.
Organizers hope the event will serve as a platform for cultural dialogue between Syrian and Dutch societies while highlighting Syria’s artistic diversity.
